Lufkin woman reports attempted kidnapping

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman said a man tried to abduct her while she was walking on Southwood Drive Thursday at 4:30 p.m., according to Lufkin Police.

According to the report, the woman said the man was driving a red four-door car with black pinstripes and stopped and grabbed her from behind and tried to drag her into his car.

The woman broke free and fled from the suspect, the report stated.

"As he got to the vehicle she was able to break loose and run and she ran a couple of blocks before she saw a family member who picked her up," Lufkin Police spokesman Lt. David Young said.

Young said kidnappings are rare in broad daylight and that it is important people are observant, especially when they are alone.

The man had a stocking over his head.
