West Sabine superintendent approved for out-of-town job

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A West Sabine superintendent who was apparently under fire with Pineland residents has been approved for an assistant principal job with Goose Creek ISD.

According to the board minutes of the last Goose Creek ISD meeting, Travis Edwards and West Sabine High principal Susan Jacobs have been approved as Ross S. Sterling High School assistant principals.

KTRE first reported of the controversy surrounding Edwards in May when former principal Ronald Barlow took out an ad in the Sabine County Reporter, alleging Edwards' arrest record and misuse of funds.

Edwards answered the ad with a letter to his staff documenting improved finances and TAKS testing.

Attempts to reach representatives at Goose Creek ISD and West Sabine ISD were unsuccessful.

Goose Creek ISD is a 4A district located in Baytown.
