Houston's mayor visits East Texas

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- Houston's mayor Bill White is on the campaign trail... making several stops in East Texas Saturday.

One of his first stops was in Lufkin. White is running for U.S. Senator. He met up with State Representative Jim McReynolds as well as the community today to hear the concerns of East Texans.

White says, "You know the people of East Texas they just want the American dream, they come from different backgrounds and they know education is important and the economy, so is worker re-training cause there's a lot of people, they get laid off they need to be able to get re-trained so they can have a job that has a future for them."

Bill White has been re-elected twice as Houston's mayor. He plans visit Jacksonville, Center, and Henderson this weekend.
