Nacogdoches man dies in wreck; six injured

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man driving a pickup with five passengers died after hitting a car in the opposite lane on Durst Street Sunday evening.

According to a Nacogdoches Police report, Jason Fischer, 28, was driving his 1988 Ford pickup in the eastbound lane and failed to control his speed after driving into slow traffic. Fischer drove into the westbound lane to avoid the slower traffic and hit a 2001 Ford Expedition, driven by Andrew A. Gray, 23, of Nacogdoches.

Fischer was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states. Two passengers in the cab, Christine Samples, 31, and Lilya Kronred, 18, both of Nacogdoches, and three riding in the bed of the pickup, Brandon Moore, 18, Anthony Box, 21, and Charles Dodd, 20, all of Nacogdoches, were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Box and Dodd were ejected from the vehicle, the report states.
