Camp CenterStage gives kids lessons in drama

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Camp CenterStage started a summer session Monday at Angelina College.

These 5th, 6th, and 7th graders enjoyed their triple-threat class where they honed their ability to sing, dance, and act. The camp teaches classes on stage-combat, song and dance, and technical theater among others.

The camp brought in instructors from out of town.

"I love to teach kids and I love to share what I love with them. It's just awesome. This is my first year at the camp, so I'm real excited about, you know, being involved in this," said Camp Instructor Maggie Rodriguez.

"Camp CenterStage taught me everything I know and I just want to come back and show kids my love of theater and hopefully inspire them to carry it on," Camp Best Friend Paige Parker said.

Parker is a best friend at the camp. She is one of many paired up with campers to help teach throughout the day.

The kids go to the camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
