Tips to keep your air conditioning running smoothly in the summer

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Local air conditioning specialists said you should keep your filters changed every 30 days so they don't get clogged, and keep your drains cleared.

You should also keep your units clear of yard toys so it can have the proper air flow.

"Never set your thermostat back more than four degrees above what you normally keep it because it's so hot outside already it's hard for it to catch back up in the evenings when you come back in," said Ferrara's Heating and Air Conditioning Sales Coordinator Warren Joslin.

Also, if you have an outdoor cooling unit, keep it clear of ants, grass, and any debris.
