COPY-Ryan Peterson

Ryan Peterson joined the East Texas News team in July 2005 as Sports Anchor on the weekends and Sports Reporter during the week.  He was promoted to Sports Director in July of 2007.

Ryan came to KTRE after two years as a sports and news reporter at
KPLC NBC-7 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Ryan started his career at KAKE ABC-10 in Wichita, Kansas as a sports intern, and was later hired as the sports photographer in 2001. His biggest thrill was covering the 2003 NCAA Men's Final Four.

Ryan graduated from
Wichita State University in December of 2002. While at Wichita State, Ryan co-hosted a weekly television show on Wichita State athletics and received three Kansas Association of Broadcaster Awards for sports journalism.

Ryan also earned
WSU's Elliott School of Communications’ Most Outstanding Broadcast Journalism Graduate for 2003.

A
Kansas native, Ryan has enjoyed his move south.  East Texas has been good to him. Ryan recently married S.F.A. graduate Melissa Aguilar.  When Ryan's not chasing area athletes, he's spending time with his wife or watching sports. He was a soccer player through high school and a diehard football fan. He claims to be the biggest Denver Broncos fanatic outside of Colorado. Ryan likes playing tennis and soccer, and attempts to golf from time to time.

He's happy to be in
East Texas, and looks forward to seeing you out on his next story.
