NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Michael Motte, a former SFA football player, was shot and killed early Saturday morning. His friends said he was president of his fraternity and a star athlete.

SFA's Head Football Coach, J.C. Harper, said Motte was very active in the community and he will be missed.

"If we can learn from him every day and remember his spirit and what he brought to the table, you know I think that will help us go a long way," said Harper.

The Coach said he will talk with the Student Advisory Committee and the NCAA to see if the football team will be wearing anything in addition to their uniform in remembrance of Motte.

A memorial is planned Thursday in the SFA Grand Ballroom from 7 to 9 p.m. Motte's funeral will be Friday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Houston. The viewing is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the funeral is at 12 p.m.
