This year, United Way of Nacogdoches had its most successful year ever in surpassing their goal of $450,000. Now, add to that $19,000. Nacogdoches County was chosen to receive an additional $19,000 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area. The selection was made by a national board. The board was in charge of distributing money to help provide food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. Locally, the funds have not been distributed to any group, but United Way is taking applications.
