WELLS, TX (KTRE) - A female resident of a Wells nursing home was found dead early Wednesday morning on the facility's property outside the home, according to Wells Police.
Chief Barry Starnes said the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office contacted police after they learn the body of Edna Sides was found outside of Hillside Plaza nursing home at 6 a.m.
Starne said Sides wandered outside the facility, but he did not know when or how. "It's a pretty intense little investigation because there's a lot of people involved because there's a lot of employees here," said Starnes.
Starnes said law enforcement interviewed numeruos people at the nursing home Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of death is unknown, Starnes said and Sides' body has been sent to Tyler for an autopsy.
Representatives of the nursing home had no comment.
Sides is approximately 85, Starnes said.
