Lockheed Martin releases second-quarter report

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lockheed Martin reported second quarter net earnings  of $734 million, compared to $882 million in the same period in 2008.

The stockholder report listed the official roll out of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense launcher as a highlight of the second quarter.

The Lufkin plant builds the THAAD launcher electronics and cables.

According to a spokeswoman with the company, the Lufkin plant will not be affected by an amendment related to the F-22 jet program, which is reported to affect 95,000 employees. The amendment would strip some of the F-22s from a defense spending bill.
