Up to 7 SFA camp participants report flu-like symptoms

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Three students who attended a choir camp at SFA have confirmed cases of Type-A influenza, according to an official with the university.

Three other students and an SFA counselor who attended the camp have reported symptoms of the flu, said Bob Wright, director of public affairs.

Wright said the campus was disinfected by noon today, which is the usual routine.

SFA hosted about 275 students for the camp from all over the state.

Monday, SFA officials sent a letter to families of the camp participants after one student's family said the student had tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

"While we are unable to confirm this, we did want to let all parents know as soon as possible," the letter stated. "If your child begins exhibiting any flu-like symptoms (nausea, vomiting, fever or headache), please see a doctor as soon as possible."
