3 killed in separate Polk County wrecks

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Three people were killed in two separate car wrecks Tuesday afternoon, according to The Department of Public Safety.

Two men were killed and one was injured in a wreck on FM 62 which occurred at 3:25 p.m.

According to the report, John Eddie Lewis, 57, of Houston, was driving a Nissan SUV westbound on FM 62, about .3 miles east of Moscow and attempted to overtake a vehicle driven by Alejo Alviso, of Bloomington, Ca. Lewis struck the westbound truck driven by Joseph Madison David, 44, of Livingston.

Lewis and his passenger, Huey Paul Henry, 70, of Houston, died at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts.

David was transported to a Lufkin hospital where he is listed in good condition with a left arm injury.

A Livingston man was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 4:39 p.m. on the intersection FM 2457 and U.S. 190.

According to the report, Charles Macks, 55, of Livingston failed to stop at the intersection and struck a 1997 Ford pickup driven by Gregorio Pecoro, 50, of Livingston.

Macks died at 6:33 p.m. in a Houston hospital. Pecoro is listed in fair condition at a Houston hospital.
