8/1/09 Lufkin Police Report

Vehicle Burglary, 1600 block of John Redditt, Man reported that when he arrived at work and noticed the driver's side door of his car that he bad been keeping at the business was open, he found someone had stolen his car stereo, destroying the dashboard in the process.

Theft, 2500 block of Daniel McCall, Loss prevention reported they discovered a female employee committing internal theft by giving customers gift cards that were blank and then loading the money paid for on the customer's gift card onto another card for her use.

Theft, 2500 block of Daniel McCall, Loss prevention found they discovered a male employee committing internal theft by voiding transactions on purchases from people he knew.

Theft, 800 block of S. Timberland, Management reported they discovered a female employee committing internal theft by taking money from customers that paid with the exact change and pocketing the money, then voiding the items out after the customers left.

Assault, 2000 block of N. Timberland, Man reported that a friend came to his home to borrow money, and when he could not make the loan, he pushed him and tried to hit him in the face.

Burglary, 1000 block of Columbus, Man reported that someone broke out a window of a home he was remodeling to make entry, and then took two video game systems and games.

Theft, 2500 block of S. John Redditt, Elderly man reported that he found his portable DVD player missing after their home health nurse was at their apartment.

Terroristic Threat, 100 block of E. Lufkin, Woman advised she received a phone call at work from an unknown number and unknown man who left a voice mail message threatening to rape her and her daughter and described the underclothes she was wearing.

Theft, 3200 block of Daniel McCall, Woman reported that while letting a friend stay with her who had a drug problem, she took over $100.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
