LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Four people were sent to the hospital with what a police officer says appear to be minor injuries following a two-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon in Lufkin.

Police Officer Jason Vance said he is investigating the cause of the wreck after receiving conflicting reports.

According to one witness, a woman was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on Lufkin Avenue when she ran a red light while turning left onto Timberland Avenue and hit a Honda Civic.

Vance said the woman claimed she was trying to drive straight through the intersection, but the driver of the Civic ran a red light and hit her.

Two of the passengers in the Explorer suffered head injuries, while the driver of the Civic and his wife suffered chest injuries.

The names of those involved in the wreck were not immediately available.
