Old school: Share your lunchbox memories

By Jeff Awtrey - email

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - While pitching story ideas back and forth at our morning meeting, we talked about how much fun it was for us as children picking out school supplies.

I brought up how much fun it was to pick out a lunch box design. Remember the snap boxes with a divider in the middle so your thermos stayed cold? And the mini-mug on top of the thermos you could pour your drink in?

What were your most memorable lunchboxes? I remember having a Knight Rider lunchbox in first grade and a Gremlins lunchbox in second grade.

We want to know all your lunchbox memories. Tell us your favorite designs or your biggest complaints or any lunchbox-related stories, like the one a staff member had about a fight at school involving a lunchbox as a weapon.

I also seem to have some vague memories of walking down the school halls with a lunchbox innocently in hand and the clip would break off and all my lunch would tumble on the floor.

So, the good, the bad and the hungry, we want your lunchbox tales. Leave them in the commenting format at the bottom of this story, and the best will make it on air tomorrow!

UPDATE: I just Googled my Knight Rider lunchbox and it's worth 175 bucks! I wonder if Mom still has it.
