LUFKIN (KTRE) - A TxDOT press release states the U.S. 59 southbound connector will open Tuesday morning but more highway closings are on the way.
According to the press release, Zachry Construction Corp. will close the U.S. 59 southbound on-ramp, located between El Chico and Huntington State Bank, at 8 p.m. Monday and remain closed until further notice.
This will require traffic to drive through the Whitehouse/Daniel McCall Drive intersection to continue traveling south on U.S. 59.
The northbound U. S. 59 mainlanes will be reduced Monday to one lane in the Whitehouse/Daniel McCall Drive Bridge area. This configuration will remain in place for approximately three months as work is conducted to tie the concrete paving into the existing paving.
The eastbound frontage road at the intersection of South First Street will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. as the contractor pours some decking on the first three spans of the new Northbound Direct Connector.
