LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Time for the big schools to strut their stuff on the field with Class 4A and 5A hitting the field today. Lufkin Panthers got back to business with Coach John Outlaw entering his 17th season roaming the sidelines for the pack.
Panthers are selected by many preseason polls to repeat as district 14-5A champions, they won their district last season with a 4-1 record and concluded the season with an overall 7-5 mark.
Today's practice was to get back into the flow of things and make sure everyone's helmet fit properly before full contact drills begin on Friday. Panthers will have light practices continuing through Thursday afternoon August 13th.
Lufkin will have just about two weeks to prepare for the season opener when they host 5A rival Tyler Lee from District 11 at Abe Martin Stadium August 28th.
