LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - It has been a theater and a church, and now, it's being restored to its former glory.
The Pines Theater in downtown Lufkin just got its marquee renovated along with new windows and doors. The metal work and neon lighting on the marquee had to be completely reconstructed after it was hit by a big truck.
The city said they are planning on making the building a multi-use facility for events like plays and meetings.
So far, the project has cost around $200,000 mainly to fix a leaky roof. There is not an exact timetable on when the project will be completed.
