Workers clear wreck scene, open both lanes

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Southbound traffic on Loop 287 east was down to one lane for a good portion of Wednesday morning following a wreck.

Investigators say a tanker truck carried liquefied petroleum turned over after the driver of a car apparently turned in front of the tanker.  A Hazmat crew had to move the petroleum onto another tanker.

Both lanes of Loop 287, near the Highway 103 east exit, were closed this morning for fear of leaks that might cause an explosion.  Crews secured the tanker and no leaks were reported.  The drivers of the tanker and the car were treated for minor injuries, according to police.
