LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) was in Lufkin Tuesday, but he wasn't talking politics.

He was talking toy guns with the Lions Club. His dad manufactured and sold them years ago.

"We're going to do something that's totally not related to politics," said Nichols.  "Everyone is kind of burned out right now. We're going to have fun, talk about toys. I had a fun childhood. I grew up in a toy shop. My dad was a toy maker."

Nichols said it's good to be in East Texas even for a little while.  As for his pick for governor, he said he likes both Perry and Hutchison.
