Some dogs, but not all find homes

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - From a home in Nacogdoches County earlier this month 118 dogs were seized. The former owner is facing animal cruelty charges, while the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter continues to find the animals permanent homes.

During a 3-day adopt-a-thon more than 70 dogs were adopted. Several aggressive dogs were euthinized,as well as some diseased animals.

Animal control is reaching out to the Bryan college station area in an effort to place the remaining animals.  "We've got a huge response from that area," Jamie Shelton, shelter director said.  "As of last night we've had several applications that have been approved. And we've got volunteers that will be transporting those dogs out very soon, hopefully this weekend."

The shelter is full and there are few places the dogs can go temporarily. People interested in giving these dogs a second chance are encouraged to file an application at the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter as soon as possible.
