Rig cleanup shuts down Highway 59

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Cleanup crews have shut down all four lanes of Highway 59 between Timpson and Tenaha until 7 p.m. Monday as they clean up chemicals spilled in a rig wreck.

The truck was transporting 3,000 gallons of alumninum sulfate, an acid used in water treatment.

The immediate area has been evacuated. One lane will be closed until the cleanup is complete, which is expected to be around midnight.

The driver has been transported to the hospital, where their condition is unknown.
