Chamber of Commerce honors small businesses

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - There can only be one winner, but all five of the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce "Small Business of the Year" nominees are honored to be recognized.

James Branch, with Innovative Homes of Deep East Texas, and an award nominee said, " {I'm}Very excited, we've been doing this for now 16 years and God has blessed us."

Each of the businesses offer something different to the community.

Bonnie Dowdy, with Music World, also an award nominee explains, " We're so family oriented, we love our customers and we treat them like family."

These business owners know how to survive tough times. " It doesn't matter how tough times are if you just hang on, you'll make it and that's kind of what we've done," tells Ron Cole, Owner of Wisteria Hideaway, a bed and breakfast, that was also nominated.

All of the nominees feel this award is not just for them. "{When} Small businesses can grow together collectively then the whole community benefits as well," said Tom Billingsley, whose company, Jewell Hudgens Machine Company was too nominated for small business of the year.

The small business of the year award nominees are: The Center for Sight, Innovative Homes of Deep East Texas, Jewell Hudgens Machine Company, Music World, and Wisteria Hideaway.

The award winner will be announced at the Angelina County Chamber's First Friday Business Luncheon, noon at Crown Colony.
