Toledo Bend is a source of drinking water for several counties here in East Texas. Many people are concerned that potentially toxic chemicals on debris in the water may contaminate the water supply.
An official with the environmental protection agency said today the likelihood of that happening is very, very low.
Debris has also been spotted in Lake Nacogdoches. But emergency management authorities say the E.P.A. does not think there is anything to worry about.
Authorities are using boats equipped with underwater cameras to search for debris in Toledo Bend. They may call in dive teams to search, as well.
