With thousands of debris sites throughout East Texas, law enforcement officials are trying to protect as many of the sites as possible. Extra manpower from all across the state has been called in, including the National Guard.
Guard troops were already in Nacogdoches for a training exercise when the explosion happened February 1. Since the crash, the number of soldiers has increased from 75 to 96.
Most soldiers are protecting debris sites, while others are helping in search efforts. They say protecting debris is the least they can do to help in the efforts.
In addition to increasing their numbers, the National Guard has extended it's stay in East Texas for another 48 hours.
