Judge OKs new language to Lufkin woman's indictment

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An Angelina County district judge Tuesday granted an amendment to the indictment against a Lufkin woman charged in the death of a Hudson toddler.

Angelina County prosecutors have asked the indictment read that Samantha Wideman is charged with injury to a child "whereby causing blunt force trauma to said child."

Ian Wesley Landers, 2, of Hudson, died in 2007 in a Houston hospital. An autopsy had ruled the death to be a homicide as there were injuries all over his body, including trauma to the brain, lower limbs and elbows.

Wideman was the girlfriend of Landers' father.

In the hearing, Prosecuting Attorney Dale Summa asked the trial be made a priority. He said he would like it to be held in early December.
