Barnhill attorney requesting change of venue

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The lawyer for a man who has confessed to shooting his wife to death through her kitchen window while she was cooking dinner for her kids has requested a change of venue, according to the Nacogdoches County District Attorney.

The state is opposing the request and District Judge Ed Klein will issue a ruling on the request following Monday's jury selection.

Kyle Barnhill is going on trial on a murder charge. He told KTRE in a phone interview that he shot his wife on March 11 and said he felt he was temporarily insane.

Lufkin attorney William Agnew is representing Barnhill.
