Story by Jessica Cervantez
Nothing but the wind - that's the sound of peace and quiet at the Primitive Acres Guest Ranch, and for Margie Jackson it's a dream come true.
"It's my East Texas treasure. It's my little known secret," said Jackson.
Her dream started 30 years ago.
"I wanted to raise my children here, fell in love with it ever since. We had a cattle business, but then went into guest ranching," said Jackson.
Now she shares it with others. Guests are able to take a walk on the trail, ride an ATV, have a quiet time on the porch, or even ride the horses. There is lots to do at the ranch. If you want quiet you can have that, or if you want company you can have that too.
"This is our duplex. It sleeps six people. It has everything you need," said Jackson, showing us around the ranch.
You have your choice of a cozy cottage or an intimate duplex. If you prefer it rough, you can have that too, with no electricity. And just because it's a little chilly outside doesn't mean there aren't things to do. In the winter there are hay rides, wiener roasts, and horseback riding.
It's great for family reunions, retreats and even birthday parties. This may be a romantic place to take your Valentine.
"We have little candlelight dinners for couples that want to get away," said Jackson.
Whether you want to take a ride on the trail, or relax in a cottage, you'll want to check out this peaceful guest ranch.
