LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - It has been another good week for the Angelina County United Way campaign, however, they still have several thousand dollars to go before reaching $525,000.
"It's still early in the campaign. The pacing is good and we're on mark," according to United Way Executive Director Carla Hight. "I'm very proud of how hard the staff and volunteers have worked to make these first two weeks of the campaign successful," added Campaign Chairman Jay Jackson.
Week 2 of the campaign has the fundraising effort up another 6% to $91,674.
Several campaign divisions have topped 60% and the Insurance Division, chaired by John Strain, once again this year has the honor of being the first to reach its division goal. Moreover, this week Insurance improved its total to 111%, or $9,964.
These are the Division totals so far to date:
Industrial (3%), Diboll (12%), Large Employers (19%), General Solicitations (38%), Lufkin Independent School District (75%), Press (66%), Attorneys (27%), Lufkin State School (37%), Angelina College (10%), Dentists (61%), Hudson (7%), Realtors (26%), Central/Pollok (25%), Zavalla (69%).
The Angelina County United Way is helping to fund 23 local agencies throughout the county. Their goal is to raise $525,000 within the next few weeks. The United Way staff and volunteers are hopeful that the community will follow its tradition and continue to give generously.
