10/22/09 Lufkin Police Report

Burglary/Attempt, 700 Block N Timberland Drive: Complainant reported seeing a black man and a Hispanic man trying to break into a residence and then a business Wednesday night.  The suspects fled on foot.

Burglary/Vehicle, 1500 Block Atkinson Drive: Complainant reported that the stereo was stolen from his truck when he left it at a shop for repairs for the past week.

Assault, 400 Block Banks Street: Complainant reported that after she gave her ex-boyfriend a ride to get some food Wednesday evening he punched her in the eye, causing visible swelling.

Harassment, 1100 Block Kiln Street:  Complainant reported that he is receiving threatening phone calls from a phone solicitor.  The suspect was selling a program to learn English and then demanded the complainant pay an exorbitant amount of money for no known reason and threatened to come "find" the complainant at work for refusing to pay.

Burglary, 900 Block Old Moffett Road: Complainant reported that someone broke into the concession stand at Kit McConnico Park Tuesday night and stole some food items.

Harassment, 3200 Block Old Union Road: Complainant reported that she has been receiving numerous phone calls from long distance numbers.  When she answered one of them they said they were with the Census Bureau and began to ask personal information.  The complainant doesn't believe they are with the Census Bureau.

Deadly Conduct, 2200 Block E Denman Avenue:  Complainant reported that a known suspect pointed a rifle at him Wednesday and threatened his life.  

Criminal Mischief, 900 Block Pershing Street:  Complainant reported that an unknown object was thrown through a window at his business sometime Tuesday night.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
