Man gets 10 years probation for cocaine in car

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Louisiana man who was arrested in Nov. 2008 for possession of half of a pound of cocaine pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance Friday in an Angelina District Court hearing.

According to a previous report, police pulled over Mitchell for not wearing a seatbelt. An officer asked to search his car after smelling marijuana. When he searched it, he uncovered more than a half-pound of cocaine in the console.

As part of the plea agreement, Mitchell will serve 10 years probation, pay a $5,000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service.
