LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - One driver was taken by helicopter to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and nine others were taken to Lufkin hospitals with minor injuries following a Saturday afternoon car wreck on Loop 287 and Sayers Street.
Lufkin emergency workers responded to the wreck after a van was traveling eastbound on Loop 287 in Lufkin when a northbound car on Sayers Street failed to yield right of way. Lufkin Police Department Cpl. Trent Sobolewski said the car entered the intersection and collided with the van.
Six people in the van from Louisiana were taken to Memorial Health System of East Texas and three people in the car from Tyler were taken to Woodland Heights Medical Center, according to Police. The driver of the car was flown to ETMC.
Officer Alberto Ibarra said the car would not be cited at this time for failure to yield right of way.
