Lufkin, Nacogdoches residents report Halloween mischief

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Police responded to seven complaints in Lufkin and four in Nacogdoches of various types of burglary and mischief over the Halloween weekend.

In a business on the 1600 block of Atkinson Drive, Lufkin Police responded to a burglar alarm around 4:35 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found that someone had thrown a rock through a glass door and stolen several pre-paid cell phones.

Another business on the 200 block of Angelina Drive reported that someone had thrown rocks from the railroad tracks through a glass door. Nothing was reported stolen.

A prankster apparently broke the glass of a home at the 100 block of Fred Street in Lufkin, another home window was broken by unknown means on the 500 block of Park Street and profanity was reportedly spray painted on a garage door on the 100 block of Burke Street.

In Nacogdoches, a complainant reported that unknown suspects had damaged his vehicle on the 300 block of South Popp Street by throwing rocks at it and another complainant said someone had spray-painted the side of their vehicle on the 3900 block of Red Oak Street.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants.
