WASHINGTON (KTRE) - A crucial vote is expected this week on the future of health care in America. The house will vote on a reform package, just unveiled by Democratic leaders which requires all Americans to buy insurance and encourages small companies to pool their money to leverage better premiums. However, Republicans, like Congressman Louie Gohmert, want make changes in the plan. His office has delivered to five East Texas libraries a copy of Speaker Pelosi's 1,990 page healthcare bill. He's encouraging you to read it.
In a news release Gohmert called the bill, "Legislation that will literally transform the lives of every American - and I believe it will not be in a good way - should neither be crafted behind closed doors, nor should it blatantly ignore the voices of the people whose very lives it will transform."
Gohmert said he is trying to bring light to the many provisions within the bill that will "raise taxes, health care costs, and add to our national debt, significantly hurting America's seniors, families and small businesses."
