LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina College Men's basketball team annihilated Tomball College on Monday night in the season home opener for the Roadrunners. The game was never in doubt from the opening tip as the defense was smothering causing 23 turnovers en route to a 114-55 win.
Very interesting statistic in the game on Monday night was the Roadrunners had more rebounds 59 than Tomball had points only scoring 55 for the game.
Angelina College was lead by Takoby Jackson who poured in 22 points to actually lead all scorers on the night.
"Tonight our guys showed a ton of unselfishness, a lot of heart and effort," Neighbors said. "Guys were playing with tremendous passion and teamwork, and they're obviously going to be a fun team to watch all season.
Coach Todd Neighbors was very pleased with his team's balance tonight.
"I was really proud of our effort over those first 10 minutes of the game," head coach Todd Neighbors said. "We talked in the locker room about coming out and establishing a presence; and Takoby Jackson led the team just the way a sophomore should.
"And we'll give teams a lot of problems with our depth. We bring our 10th and 11th guys out and really don't miss a beat."
The Roadrunners next home game will be against Wiley Junior Varsity next Tuesday night at 7:30pm at Shands Gymnasium.
