Zavalla voters overwhelmingly approve tax hike and school bond

ZAVALLA (KTRE) - Tuesday's election results were historic for the state of Texas, according to Zavalla Superintendent David Flowers.  Voters overwhelmingly approved a 5-point-5 million dollar school bond and a proposition which will raise school taxes by 13 cents.  Flowers said that's the first time in Texas history that those two propositions have been on the ballot at the same time and passed.  There were 371 for, 174 against, tax ratification.  As to Proposition 2, 363 votes were in favor of the school bond and 177 against it.

An emotional Superintendent Flowers announced the results to an anxious crowd of supporters.  They erupted in cheers and hand claps upon hearing the news.  He thanked God and all of the people who worked so hard in support of the children of Zavalla.
