LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Industries is one step closer to being named a State Enterprise Project, meaning the company could save up to $1.25 million over the next five years.
The Lufkin City Council Tuesday night approved the first reading of the ordinance. It must now pass a second reading before facing state approval.
Texas cities are only allowed to have six enterprise projects every two years. This would be the first for Lufkin in that time period.
