Another beautiful day is in store for us here in East Texas.  Currently we are waking up to temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.  With lots of sunshine our highs once again today will reach the middle 70s this afternoon.  We will continue to get a chance to dry out through the weekend with lots of sun and comfortable temperatures.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A handful of elections in the U.S. tomorrow could provide hints about the country's state of mind. A year before pivotal 2010 midterm balloting, tomorrow's results could shed light on President Barack Obama's political stock. Other questions include what independents are thinking and whether Republicans are sealing fissures within their ranks.

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Ford says it made money in the third quarter and says the longer-term outlook is positive. Ford today announced it made nearly $1 billion in the third quarter thanks to U.S. market share gains, cost cuts and the government's Cash for Clunkers rebates. Ford says it expects to be "solidly profitable" in 2011.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Will the New York Yankees take home the trophy tonight or can the Philadelphia Phillies send the World Series back to New York for Game 6? The Yanks beat the Phillies 7-4 last night to take a 3-1 lead in the Fall Classic. Phillies ace Cliff Lee has the job of silencing the Yankee bats tonight. A.J. Burnett starts on short rest for the Yanks.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - The Coast Guard's search for the body of a second Navy pilot after a trainer plane went missing -- has been suspended off Corpus Christi. The body of the first pilot was recovered Friday. The accident happened Wednesday afternoon.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Houston-based KBR is being warned by Pentagon auditors to cut its military support work force in Iraq or face nearly $200 million in penalties. KBR says it is reviewing the audit, but the company disagrees with many of the review's conclusions.

DALLAS (AP) - A man and a woman have been found slain today at a house in Dallas -- and so far no arrests. Police say it appears somone tried to confront the homeowner when gunfire broke out. Police found signs of forced entry at the residence.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) - A standoff in San Antonio has led to police shooting and killing a man who had barricaded himself in an apartment for several hours. Police had tried to serve a felony warrant when the man pulled a gun on officers -- allegedly saying he wouldn't return to jail.
