Judge grants Lufkin murder suspect's request for witness list

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A lawyer for a man accused in an April shooting death of a Lufkin man was granted on Thursday a request to see a list of potential witnesses before jury selection for a murder trial.

Angelina County District Judge Paul White asked Joshua Handy's attorney, Bill Agnew, if two weeks prior to selection was enough soon enough to see the list and Agnew concurred.

Handy is charged in the shooting death of Jerrard Jernigan, 21. Jernigan was found dying on Cain Street early in the morning of April 22.

Jury selection is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 14.
