And Texas has put Khristian Oliver to death for the murder of a man in Nacogdoches County in 1998. His lawyers had appealed to Governor Rick Perry for a 30-day stay of execution. Oliver's case gained national attention because jurors consulted a Bible when considering his punishment.

Nidal Malik Hasan, a suspect in the mass shooting that wounded 30, is on a ventilator and unconscious after being shot four times. In the early chaos of the shooting, authorities believed they had killed the shooter.
FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - As officials try to piece together what led to yesterday's shooting rampage at Texas' Fort Hood that left 13 dead, the FBI, local police and other agencies have searched the apartment of the Army psychiatrist suspected in the attack. Khristian Oliver began praying as he was given lethal drugs last night. His case drew attention because jurors consulted a Bible to justify his death sentence.
ELDORADO, Texas (AP) - A polygamist group member from the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child. The charge against Raymond Jessop stemmed from his alleged marriage to an underage girl.
