Lufkin patients say side effects don't deter them from H1N1 vaccine November 10, 2009 at 10:46 PM CST - Updated June 21 at 10:27 AM By Jena Johnson - email LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – One of the few Lufkin doctors that has the H1N1 vaccine says he hasn't seen any serious side effects. And many patients in the high risk group are just happy to get vaccinated. "So far we haven't run out, but if we don't get some soon from the state, we probably will," Dr. Jerry Sloan said. Frances Barker admits she was nervous about her mother getting the vaccine. "We've had no problem so I'm not going to say that someone else might not, but we haven't," Barker said. So, Barker decided to take the vaccine today. "The results that we've had from it, I would recommend it," she said. "First off I've got chronic pancritis, immune disorders and I'm a severe diabetic type 1 and I figured I don't need nothing else to catch," Jerry Bingle said. Some have seen minor reactions. "The rash lasted for probably about six hours," patient Brook White said. Sloan says that's perfectly normal. ©2009 KTRE. All rights reserved.
