PineCrest Retirement Community holding food drive Thursday

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin's PineCrest Retirement Community is asking the public to help them in setting a world record, and giving to a good cause at the same time.

PineCrest and food service provider Sodexo, in partnership with Helping Hands Across America are teaming up Thursday in a 24-hour food drive to attempt to set a record for the largest food drive by a non-charitable organization in that time period.

All donations of food will be donated to the ministry of Christian Information Service Center in hopes of helping achieve the goal of feeding 500 families on a waiting list for a Thanksgiving dinner.

Food items must be in date, non-perishable and cans must not be dented.

They can be dropped off at PineCrest, any Lufkin First Band & Trust, Brookshire Brothers at Gaslight Plaza and Chili's.
