LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Our Jack of the Week hails from the north, Tyler Lee his name is Tyrone Ross senior running back who is a total team player who loves the game and his teammates.
"You know being a senior it's a lot that you go through. That you know being a leader you know you got the young guys that are looking up to you, you want to do things right and make sure that your on time for meetings doing everything right in practice the little things Not the big things little because the little things will be the reason that we win the championship this year," Ross said.
Ross is one of the smartest players to dawn the purple and white, according to Coach Jake Willingham he never misses an assignment.
"One of the best I've been around he's just got a knack for knowing what to do in certain situations. Knowing who to block how to block them and how to pick up pass protection in this offense is huge in this offense and he does a great job of it. Not only in practice but each week he shows us something that I think to myself man I glad we got that guy," Willingham said.
Heading into the last two weeks of the season and the outright Southland Conference title on the line Ross feels the team is focused and there in the right state of mind two win the last two games on the road against Southeastern Louisiana and Northwestern State.
"It's better now this time, last year it wasn't this much focus coming into the last two games because we really didn't have much too fight for but now that we have something to fight for you enjoy coming to practice and get ready for the upcoming game," Ross said.
Ross will help lead Stephen F. Austin into battle this Saturday when they head to Hammond, LA on Friday for the six hour bus ride. Kickoff is at 2pm; Tyrone Ross is your Jack of the Week.
