Grand jury indicts Nacogdoches man on capital murder

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County Grand Jury has indicted a Nacogdoches man on a capital murder charge, in connection with the 2008 death of a 34-year-old Nacogdoches man found in the trunk of a burning car.

According to previous KTRE reports, Bakari White was the third man arrested in the death, which Sheriff Thomas Kerss said appeared to be drug-related.

Authorities say Lamont Patton was shot in the chest and head.

Carolyn Shanell Hale, Tyler: Possession of controlled substance.

Charles Thomas Smith, Cushing: Possession of marijuana.

Bakari Bransha White, Nacogdoches: Capital murder.

Freddie Sanders, Nacogdoches: Aggravated assault.

Mark Anthony Tennyson: Aggravated assault.

Christopher Eugene Stilley, Nacogdoches: Driving while intoxicated.

Jodi Anne Strahan, Nacogdoches: Driving while intoxicated with child passenger.

Kayla Ann Arabie, Nacogdoches: Criminal mischief

Earl Bonner, Jr., Nacogdoches: Theft.

Ramon Bordoy, Simpson, Ill.: Possession of marijuana.

Lesia Osman, Harrisbert, Ill.: Possession of marijuana.

Charles Brisco, Jr., Nacogdoches: Theft from person.

Demarcus Lajun Skinner, Nacogdoches: Theft from person.

Dallas Joseph Caldwell, Center: Possession of controlled substance.

    More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
