LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A passerby on 1-45 captured on tape a Lufkin man's million-dollar car crashing into a lagoon.

The driver told La Marque police a bird caused the accident, but a YouTube.com video appears to contradict that.

The driver, Andy House, 34, told police a low-flying pelican distracted him, causing him to veer off the roadway into a muddy lagoon.

But in the video, no pelican was in sight.

House's insurance company says they're investigating the claim and cannot comment.

A KTRE reporter called House, but after he was asked several questions about the new video, he hung up. La Marque Police Chief Kirk Jackson declined comment until he has more information.
