LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)- Rudolph the red nosed reindeer had more than a few fans come out to see him this evening.

Thousands crowded around to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the lighting of Rudolph. The giant pumping unit stands 45 feet high, with 1,000 seven watt lights, making it a pretty impressive sight when he lights up against the night sky.

The evening offered plenty of fun for everyone.

"This year we've given out Rudolph antlers, little red Lufkin Rudolph antlers. Santa clause always makes his inaugural appearance for the holiday season here in Lufkin in conjunction with this event, and he and his helpers give away milk and cookies," said Ty Thornton with Lufkin Industries.

Rudolph will stand proud in front of the Lufkin mall throughout the holiday season, so if you missed him tonight, there's still plenty of time to see the giant reindeer in action.
