Nacogdoches Godtel reports they need Coats for Kids

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – Godtel is known for helping people in need in so many different ways.

They provide them a place to sleep. They also give them a hot meal when they're hungry. And they provide them clothing. This time of year they try extra hard to provide coats for kids.

"No children's coats whatsoever," Director Royce Oliver said. "Fortunately, we haven't had real cold weather yet, but we have none, none at all."

The cold weather will come. So will those seeking warmth at the Godtel mission.

A giggling 12-year-old named Lachandra lives there now. So does her two-year-old sister. Being cold is something they don't like.

"When I'm really cold I get goose bumps and I start getting sick," Lachandra said.

Illness is a worry of all moms, including Katelin, a mother of two. The family doesn't live at Godtel, but sometimes they get a hot meal there. She watches the children come and go and recognizes what they need.

"It's a very good thing for people to donate coats and stuff," Katelin said.

"I feel so warm," Lachandra said.

Donated coats may be dropped off at several dry cleaning businesses in Nacogdoches and Lufkin.
