Here's what's coming up on Good Morning East Texas: The holiday shopping season begins today, and East Texans lined up overnight outside some stores to get the best bargains when the doors opened this morning. Good Morning East Texas' Morgan Chesky joined shoppers at one store in south Tyler and will have a live report.

Today is also the start of the Red Kettle Campaign for the Salvation Army in East Texas. Local chapters of the Salvation Army say they have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people asking for help, and they hope East Texans will be generous this year.

Plus…Gregg County is getting some more doses of the H1N1flu vaccine. We'll tell you where they will be holding vaccination clinics next week and who will be eligible.

WEATHER TODAY

We got off to a cold start this morning, with temperatures in the middle to upper 30's. Things will be warming up today across East Texas, with highs reaching into the upper 60's. It will get a little warmer on Saturday before a cold front hits on Sunday, bringing the chance of showers or thunderstorms on Monday.

Man found shot several times

Tyler man is in the hospital, after being found shot in a backyard.

Tyler Police found the man around 8:30 Thursday night at a residence on North Summit street.

 East Texas family extends Thanksgiving welcome to all

Whether its across the street or across the country, Thanksgiving brings families together, but here in East Texas, many go right through the holiday and into the next alone. One East Texas family decided to change that and today they invited those without a family to join theirs.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - The space shuttle is heading home. The seven Atlantis astronauts hope to wrap up their 11-day flight this morning. Good weather is forecast for the 9:44 a.m. EST landing in Florida. The crew spent a week at the International Space Station delivering big spare parts.

UNDATED (AP) - Retailers are ready for what they hope will be a great opening to the traditional holiday shopping season. A number of stores, including Walmart and many Old Navy locations, opened on Thanksgiving instead of waiting for Black Friday. Toys R Us opened most of its stores at midnight.

GENEVA (AP) - The Swiss Justice Ministry says it will keep Roman Polanski in jail until at least Monday. A spokesman says more time is needed for the conditions of Polanski's house arrest to be fulfilled. The ministry is still deciding whether to extradite Polanski to the U.S. for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A woman has told police her boyfriend stabbed her with a steak knife at a Corpus Christi apartment during an argument over where to have Thanksgiving dinner. He then dropped her off at her grandmother's house, where medics treated her for minor injuries to her hand and thigh.

DALLAS (AP) - Governor Rick Perry plans to keep up high fight against climate legislation that he claims would lead to massive job cuts and more expensive energy. The climate bill is making its way through the U.S. Senate, but many in Texas hope it doesn't get that far.
