12/14/09 Lufkin Police report

Theft, 900 Block W Frank Avenue: Complainant reported that an unidentified woman put several items, including a bag of chips, into a bag and fled the store without paying for the merchandise early Monday morning.

Burglary/Vehicle, 1900 Block S First Street:   Complainant reported that her car was broken into Sunday night Sunday night and the stereo and her purse were stolen.

Theft, 100 block Timberland Drive: Complainant reported that $100 was stolen from a store register Sunday in a suspected internal theft.

Burglary, 100 Block Miles Road: Complainant reported that a window was broken out of her car Sunday evening but nothing was noted missing.

Theft, 1200 Block E Lufkin Avenue: Complainant reported that an unknown male suspect was caught on surveillance video stealing some medicine from a store Sunday evening

Theft, 400 Block N Timberland Drive: Complainant reported that a man stole two 18-packs of beer from a store Sunday evening.

Burglary/Vehicle, 900 Block S John Redditt Drive: Complainant reported that a handgun was stolen from his vehicle sometime during the first week of December.

Theft, 100 Block Kerr Street: Complainant reported that a chainsaw was stolen from his yard Sunday afternoon.

Burglary/Vehicle, 400 Block Cunningham Street: Complainant reported that his car window was broken out Saturday night but nothing was taken from the vehicle because it had been cleaned out prior to being placed for sale.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
